- Saudi Air Show Will Take Place 12-14 March in Riyadh
Aero-News – Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA) announces its role as the main sponsor of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s “Saudi International Air Show”, taking place from 12-14 March, 2019 at Al Thumama Airport in Riyadh.
The Saudi Air Show will be held under the Patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi Space Agency and Founder and Chairman of the Saudi Aviation Club.
The Saudi Air Show is the first international aviation and aerospace exhibition of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
During the signing of the agreement last week in Riyadh, the Director General of the Saudi Aviation Club, Captain Ayed Odhaib Alkasme and Saudi Arabian Airlines Vice President Corporate Communications, Mr. Fahad Bahdailah discussed the role of the airline in the Air Show and outlined the details of the cooperation.
During the three-day Air Show, a pavilion space will feature more than 300 exhibitors and many aircraft on static display for viewing. The exhibition will bring together the major players in the aviation industry and will attract participants from all areas to meet new and existing clients.
Expected attendees include delegates from within the region, as well as international guests including: Aircraft manufacturers; regional business aircraft selling agents; business and general aviation aircraft manufacturers; airlines; terminal operators; ground handlers; MRO services; charter, leasing, financing, insurance and brokerage firms; airport equipment suppliers, and more.
SAUDIA flies to more than 95 destinations worldwide, with a modern fleet of 162 narrow and widebody Airbus and Boeing aircraft. The average age of the SAUDIA fleet is less than five years.
Last year the airline flew more than 33 million passengers and introduced five new routes to its network: Vienna (Austria), Trivandrum (India), Surabaya (Indonesia), Medan (Indonesia) and re-introduced flights to Cochin, India, in addition to three seasonal routes to: Izmir, Malaga and Moscow.
Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA) is the national carrier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Currently in its 74th year of operations, the airline is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO).
On September 25, 2018, SAUDIA announced its partnership with the ABB FIA Formula E Championship as the official airline partner of the all-electric series and was the race title partner of the inaugural SAUDIA Ad Diriyah E-Prix, which took place on December 15, 2018.
At the 2017 Skytrax Awards held at the Paris Air Show, SAUDIA was awarded “World’s Most Improved Airline” of the year. The award recognizes an airline’s growth and improvement across a number of categories, in a single year.
SAUDIA joined the SkyTeam alliance in 2012 and is one of 19 member airlines. The airline has 12 codeshare partners including: Czech Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, China Southern Airlines, Air France, Royal Air Maroc, Alitalia, Korean Airlines, KLM, Middle East Airlines, Aeroflot, Air Europa and Oman Air.
