La compagnie nationale de la République de Maurice est le premier opérateur de l’A330neo basé dans l’hémisphère sud et la première compagnie au monde à exploiter à la fois l’A330neo et l’A350 XWB.
Cet avion, baptisé Aapravasi Ghat en référence à l’histoire de Maurice, sera équipé d’une cabine présentant une configuration biclasse dotée de 28 sièges en classe affaires et 260 sièges en classe économique et bénéficiera de la rentabilité opérationnelle inégalée de l’A330neo et de la cabine primée Airspace. La compagnie déploiera cet appareil sur des lignes reliant Maurice à l’Europe (principalement Londres et Genève), ainsi que sur des liaisons vers l’Inde et l’Asie du Sud-Est et des destinations régionales, notamment Johannesburg, Antananarivo et l’île de la Réunion.

Air Mauritius exploite actuellement 9 avions Airbus (deux A350-900, trois A340-300, deux A330-200 et deux A319) sur ses services régionaux et long-courriers.
La famille A330neo représente la nouvelle génération d’A330 et se décline en deux versions : l’A330-800 et l’A330-900, qui affichent une similarité de 99 pour cent. Ces appareils bénéficient de la rentabilité, la polyvalence et la régularité technique reconnues de la famille A330, tout en affichant une réduction de la consommation de carburant de l’ordre de 25 pour cent par siège par rapport aux avions concurrents de génération précédente, ainsi qu’un rayon d’action inégalé.
