Aero-News (Airbus) – Le constructeur aéronautique européen Airbus vient de dévoiler trois concepts d’avion « zéro émission » fonctionnant à l’hydrogène, rapporte Reuters ce mardi 22 septembre 2020. Il s’agirait du dernier effort en date de l’entreprise pour susciter l’attention du public sur ses ambitions de « zéro émission » d’autant plus que les gouvernements européens mettent actuellement la pression sur la conception d’une technologie plus propre dans les plans de relance économiques et technologiques post-Covid.
Les trois concepts d’avion fonctionnant à l’hydrogène ont été présentés dans le cadre d’une initiative dénommée « ZEROe ». Les deux premiers concepts se présentent, pour l’un, en un turboréacteur à double flux qui pourrait transporter entre 120 à 200 personnes sur une distance de 2.000 miles nautiques, soit environ 3.700 km. L’autre concept est un turbopropulseur qui peut transporter un maximum de 100 personnes sur 1.000 miles nautiques, soit environ 1.850 km.
Quant au troisième concept, il s’agit d’un modèle disruptif, une conception révolutionnaire de « corps d’aile mixte ». Le constructeur aéronautique travaillerait actuellement sur un démonstrateur qui devrait donner les premiers résultats en 2021.

Airbus a effectivement fixé pour objectif de mettre en service un avion commercial décarboné d’ici 2035.
Un objectif qualifié d’ambitieux par Safran, un groupe international de haute technologie et équipementier oeuvrant dans les domaines de l’Aéronautique, de l’Espace et de la Défense.
La directrice technique d’Airbus, Grazia Vittadini, a expliqué dans une interview que pour atteindre cet objectif, Airbus va se pencher sur les technologies adéquates d’ici 2025. D’autres responsables travaillant dans l’industrie aéronautique estiment néanmoins que cela pourrait prendre jusqu’en 2040 pour se passer des moteurs à propulsion.
